Spytheland: Genesis
Origin and Journey
The beginning
Spytheland is a project created by composer and pianist Alejandro Román, former keyboardist of the Spanish symphonic rock band Galadriel.
For years, Alejandro had nurtured the idea of creating a progressive rock album with a strong conceptual focus: a work that could bring together his interest in rock, symphonic music, ethnic roots, jazz and contemporary language.
In April 2025, the pivotal moment arrived: Alejandro connected with Peruvian singer Magali Revollar. Her voice and artistic personality ignited the creative spark.
From that collaboration emerged a concept album about a young Peruvian woman traveling from Ayacucho, in the Andes, to Spain: an initiatory adventure of discovery, uprooting and transformation.
Alejandro composed a full 75-minute concept album about Warmi, a Peruvian warrior woman fighting to survive, rebuild herself and find her own voice. By August, the album was complete.
In September, with the help of his guitarist friend Cote Fernández, a progressive rock expert, the search for the musicians who would bring Spytheland to life began.
The first to join were:
Javier Rod — bass
Juan Bañales — drums
The band still needed a guitarist and a lead vocalist. Soon after, Miky Zamalloa, from Oxígeno / Pink Floyd Experience, joined the project, contributing his distinctive sound, personality and expressive power on guitar.
Shortly afterward, Javier Rod stepped away from bass duties, making way for Toni Sotos. A seasoned bassist with decades of experience across bands such as Heart Beat, Los Lebowski and Morgan, Toni brings depth, versatility and a strong musical foundation to the low end. His jazz background fits naturally with the richness and emotional drive of Warmi Warrior.
One essential piece still remained missing: a personal, intense and unique male lead voice capable of conveying Warmi’s journey in Spain with both power and nuance. Magali Revollar will perform three songs on the album, bringing an authentic Peruvian vocal presence to the story, but Spytheland needed a definitive lead vocalist to complete the project’s sonic and narrative identity.
That voice has now arrived: Carlos Valledor joins Spytheland as lead vocalist. A versatile singer, actor and lyricist from Zaragoza, currently based in Madrid, Carlos brings a powerful tenor voice, strong stage presence and a rich background in rock, musical theatre, a cappella performance and international stage productions. His experience as both frontman and actor makes him especially suited to embody the emotional and dramatic depth of Warmi Warrior.
Today, Spytheland continues to take shape as a band built around a powerful conceptual vision, blending progressive rock intensity, symphonic ambition, ethnic influences and emotional storytelling. With the album fully written and the band already in motion, the project now enters a new and decisive phase: bringing Warmi’s journey fully to life in the studio and on stage.
